PVP Optimization
#1
The following article is meant to optimize the PVP feature in game . Kindly note that I have nothing against the
current PVP System but would like to share an idea that has been commonly adviced by several/many/few
people.

It is no surprise for everyone to understand that true PVP aka Player Versus Player feature is meant to show how strong a certain player's character is , by gearing up our characters and spending quite a time improving physically we resort to several Boost methods which affect our Character Statistics drastically . Yes I'm talking about Pots/Tags that help us boost our strength and overcome our enemies who doesn't own those Pots.

It is believed that Pot/Tags are wildly overpowered in PVP and that there should be no sort of "Boost Potential" for a character to clearly rely on its own strength. Whether its a  Guild War/Duel/PK Mode we're all trying to buy as many 1k pots or regular Pot/Tags to dominate the others , we're basically allowed to achieve a Godmode level.

With that said I'd like to explain why I choose to share this here and explain my point of view towards this case

1) Players will now be equal in terms of potential boosts

2) The tide of a battle now will rely on skill/own strength

3) There will be no sort of crying/flaming towards those who had those sort of boosts

4) Individual skill and weilding of a certain class will now be more important

5) Each class will take a certain benefit in battle

I really hope you'll get the point of this whole topic , despite reducing our powers (Potentially) by GM's approving this sort of optimization , we'll also make the game interesting enough to keep fighting for our goals  Heart

Yes , apply Pots/tags/3rd-party buffs (Any buff aside from what character can perform) in PVE only

I'm inclined to agree with no pots in pvp, but buffs should apply. All of them. And please remove 1k atk/def pots completely as they are ridiculous. Right now the pvp system is a bit.. counter intuitive to say the least. Fully potted it is possible to crit 3-4k, which means most players will drop in 1-2 hits. It makes pvp incredibly boring. Not to mention that it's only going to get worse by the time people hit 144.

Dudes this is 12 years old game, not World of Warcraft where you in most cases can clearly outplay enemy in duels using some of your 1289317 skills. In MH pvp relies clearly on raw power and who pushes his keys faster. Sad truth

In this case players rely on critical strikes , 1 clean shot to kill the enemy which is completely not interesting

I'm definitely seeing the point of this thread and understand where you're coming from. While I can't make any promises (so don't get your hopes up!) I can say that we'll discuss it further.

Funny you should say that given how WoW was released around the same time(2004/2005). If pvp is left depending entirely on who has the longest range(bow sins), who has the most luck(crit) and who has the lowest network latency and whose action the server first handles, then clearly there is room for improvement. I totally agree that pvp in MH was always kind of.. meh. The funny thing is though that this time around we can actually change those things.

Lets not bring other MMO's because they're based on a completely different system . Rather than comparing it to the WoW think about what's lacking in this topic to discuss and give GM's detailed information about what's necessarry to change

Yeah WoW was released 2004 too but it has been developed throughout all these years and improved a lot. In 2004 pvp wasnt any balanced there either. Talking about the MH I dont see any solutions to improve this games pvp. Would require adding new skills / commons. Because for now its just any given class destroyed by sin 1k potted. Good start is removing 1k pots from faction/guild wars

the original idea was to remove all warfare pots from PVP, just raw power. no boosts except for buffs lol. that would be a good start. The gm/gmhs love this idea, whether or not they can do it is a different story.
